If you look at the ingredients list for commercial shampoos, soaps, and cosmetics, you’ll often see PEG as an ingredient. You’ll probably see variations like PEG-40, PEG-8, PEG -7 etc. PEG is Polyethylene Glycol. In this article Katie of Wise Wife Soaps, explains where you find this chemical and the health risks. Very helpful and educational article!

By the way, EWG that Katie mentions is the Environmental Working Group. Among other resources, they have a database that lists commercial products and rates the health risks.
