This is an excellent post by Agatha of the Herbal Academy of New England. She first discusses issues surrounding the use of over the counter NSAIDS and aspirin for pain relief.
Then she discusses several herbs that are used for short periods of time for specific pain. The herbs have been used for menstrual pain, rheumatic problems, earaches, headaches, and more. One main take away is that medicinal herbs need to be used carefully and for short durations.
Agatha includes a number of usage warnings and research references. It’s an interesting and informative post.
