Courtenay of Creek Line House has a dog, Chuck, who likes to leave his doggy smell on the carpet in the living room. Courtenay’s tried a variety of different natural carpet cleaning recipes. But none of them were able to get rid of the smell of Chuck.
She heard about this recipe which uses Borax and one other ingredient. Courtenay decided to add tea tree oil because of its disinfectant properties. After sprinkling some of the carpet cleanser on the rug, waiting an hour and then vacuuming it up, no more Chucky smell!! Nice, creative recipe.
One note: Tea Tree oil is toxic if consumed by dogs or cats. If you have any concerns about not being able to vacuum up all of the cleanser, just skip adding the Tea Tree oil. The scent of the Tea Tree Oil doesn’t last very long anyway. AND the cleanser works just as well without it.
