This is an interesting and eye-opening article by Summer of MindBodyGreen about the air detoxing capabilities of certain plants.
In the 1980’s NASA determined that certain species of plants can eliminate up to 87% of airborne toxins. They estimated that a certain number of mature, air-filtering plants in an average-sized house could keep the air free of toxins.
Summer provides thirty plant species that are proven plant air filters. Two examples are
- Peace lily (Spathiphyllum varieties
- Schefflera (Brassaia actinophylla)
