Thank you for visiting Herbs and Oils Hub!!
This is one of the worst flu seasons we’ve had in a long time. Rather than coming to an end, there are reports that the flu outbreak is accelerating a bit. And this is also prime head cold season as well.
I decided to share 3 homemade, all-natural home cold and flu remedies that are best used when you start to feel the symptoms of the flu. In some cases they’re also good for treating colds. (As you go through the posts, you’ll see that there are actually way more than 3 home remedies).
This post includes remedies by the Nerdy Farm Wife, The Herbal Academy and Wellnessmama.
1. Ginger Lemon Honey Tonic for Colds & Flu
Ginger Lemon Honey Tonic for Colds and Flu
This is the Nerdy Farm Wife’s homemade tonic for treating both the flu and colds. Incredibly easy to make. It’s also soothing if you have a cough or sore throat. Take a spoonful as needed or stir a little into hot water or tea.
From the post:
“Raw honey helps fight infection and soothes inflamed tissue; lemons are full of healthful vitamin C and antioxidants (plus, they taste great!); and fresh ginger root helps fight the sore throat, cough, lung congestion, chills and stomach-ache that often accompanies the flu.”
2. Ten Homemade Herbal Teas for Cold and Flu Season
The Herbal Academy is one of the most reputable sites I’ve found when it comes to herbal remedies and education. In this post, Christina shares 10 homemade herbal infusions or teas. For the flu, I’d recommend the Immune Boosting Tea recipe or the High-C Immune Boosting Tea recipe.
There are also herbal teas that ease fever, headaches, sore throats, coughs and more.
