She mentions making s decoction. That is simply taking all of the herbs and boiling them in water. The essential properties of the herbs are extracted into the water. You then strain out the herbs and use the remaining liquid for the next part of the recipe.
As they say, the proof is in the pudding. Angela gave this remedy to her 3-1/2 year old daughter who had a bad cough. It stopped her cough and allowed her to get some sleep.
