This is an excellent article by the Untrained Housewife that includes 6 different essential oil bath recipes to help you get through the flu season. The premise is that since many essential oils are antiviral, if you take a bath with those essential oils at the first start of flu symptoms, you can sometimes recover from the flu more quickly.
The Untrained Housewife includes recipes for 2 anti-flu evening baths, recipes for 2 morning or daytime anti-flu bath blends, a bath recipe to bring down fever and a bath for kids.
There are also instructions on how to prepare a cold compress with essential oils if you can’t take a bath. And she lists 12 essential oils you can add to a vaporizer or oil burner.
Some of the oils mentioned are Lavender, Ravensara, Tea-Tree, Eucalyptus, Pine, Bergamot, Peppermint and several more. Great variety! The herb Marjoram is also used in one of the recipes.
Ravensara is an interesting oil that is a strong antiviral and often recommended for people with the flu nd respiratory conditions. The scent is like a spicy eucalyptus..
