It’s not too late to plant Fall veggies. Black Fox Homestead has assembled a list of vegetables that can be planted in early Fall. It’s important to research the typical first hard frost for your area. Most of these veggies need about 60 days from seed to maturity. Just a few of the Fall vegetables include garlic, certain greens and radishes.
Black Fox Homestead also touches on the subject of “extending the season.” This involves providing protection to your Fall plants in the event of a freeze, ice storm or other bad weather. You can then continue to grow and harvest the veggies into colder weather. Methods of protection include solar bells, fabric covers or cold frames.
