Thyme has antiseptic and antispasmodic properties. It’s used in herbal remedies for gout, arthritis, rheumatism and many other conditions. Because of the antispasmodic property, it’s been used by herbalists to treat muscle spasms, muscle aches and cramps.
Just a few of the properties of Lavender oil are: analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. It blends well with thyme.
In this video, Leoni Pizzillo demonstrates how to make a Thyme and Lavender Herbal Cream that can be used for arthritis and muscle aches and strains. I thought it would be helpful to show the steps involved in making a simple herbal cream.
In the recipe Leoni uses:
- 1/2 Cup infused Thyme oil made with 2 ounces of fresh Thyme covered with 2 Cups of Olive Oil
- Water infused with Thyme (Made with 1/2 ounce of dried thyme steeped for 20 minutes in
- 1/2 cup of water)
- 1/2 ounce Beeswax
- 1/2 Teaspoon Lavender oil
