I read this article about butter-making on the Prairie Homestead. I selected it because Jill obviously knows her way around the butter churn 🙂 . It’s a very thorough and well-written article. As you’d expect, sweet cream butter is butter made from sweet cream. Cultured butter is made from cream that has been allowed to ripen or just turn sour. Cultured butter has more of a tangy flavor.

Next Jill covers how to make cultured butter. She explains how to culture pasteurized cream. Once the cream is cultured you follow the same process of making butter as you do with sweet cream.
