Thank you for visiting Herbs and Oils Hub!!
I read this article about butter-making on the Prairie Homestead. I selected it because Jill obviously knows her way around the butter churn 🙂 . It’s a very thorough and well-written article. As you’d expect, sweet cream butter is butter made from sweet cream. Cultured butter is made from cream that has been allowed to ripen or just turn sour. Cultured butter has more of a tangy flavor.
Jill first explains how to make sweet cream butter. She reveals the type of cream she uses and also gives some alternative creams. She covers the equipment needed. Then she explains the process of making sweet cream butter. There are terrific step-by-step photographs.
Next Jill covers how to make cultured butter. She explains how to culture pasteurized cream. Once the cream is cultured you follow the same process of making butter as you do with sweet cream. Very informative and well-done article. Click on the How to Make Cultured & Sweet Cream Butter link below to read Jill’s article.
