Watermelon is always a refreshing summer treat. It’s sweet, smells wonderful, and is delicious. Because of the high water content many people think it just provides empty calories.
AU CONTRAIRE!! It turns out that watermelon is high on the list for providing the most nutrition per calorie. It tastes good and it’s Healthy! Here are just a few of the health benefits of watermelon: it’s very high in vitamin C, beta carotene, lycopene and vitamin A. These are all major antioxidants that have been shown in clinical studies to help fight cancer.
I have to say lycopene is amazing. It’s a phytonutrient and is thought to prevent or fight cancer of the mouth, throat, skin & prostate and reduces cardiovascular disease. I’ve written previously about AutumnBerries as a major source of lycopene.
