Antioxidants interfere with the formation of free radicals which can cause cell damage like cancer. In this article Debra of DIY Natural presents 16 antioxidant foods. She explains the exact benefit of each food. Here are a couple of examples:
- Berries and cherries are high in antioxidants. White fruits like gooseberries and white grapes also have antioxidants, but a lesser amount than darker fruits.
- Chocolate (yay!) is a great source of antioxidants. Dark chocolate contains more antioxidants than milk chocolate. The higher the % of cocoa in the chocolate the better.
- Brassicas include cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts and broccoli. They are all very high in antioxidants.
